Mayor MatthewsMeet Mayor Patricia Matthews

Patricia Matthews, Mayor of Chestermere, was born and raised in Manitoba. She moved to Ottawa to attend Carleton University and spent five years working for various technology companies including G.E. Capital.

In 1994, Patricia and her husband Ian moved to Calgary where she worked for Lexmark / IBM as a Territory Manager before starting her own I.T. training company.


Since 1998 she, Ian and their two daughters have happily resided in Chestermere where she has always been an active member and advocate of the community. Patricia had been volunteering for community events, programs at the local schools, and campaigning for the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Chestermere for many years before becoming interested in local politics.


In 2004, Patricia was elected as a town councillor and in 2007 she won the race for full-time mayor of the Town of Chestermere. In the 2010 and 2013 elections she was acclaimed. Currently Patricia also serves on many boards and committees.
