 Budget Process
Sept-Oct 2016 City staff prepare a preliminary budget.
Nov 2016 Public meetings are held where Council reviews the preliminary budget and may request changes.
Dec 2016 Council passes a multi-year budget.      
While City Council can review the budget at any time, the City of Chestermere uses a multi-year budgeting process to ensure efficient and effective long range strategic planning. In the fall of 2016, the City of Chestermere developed a budget for 2017-2019.

Budget Approval

Administration brought the 2017-2018 budget forward for approval at the December 5 Council meeting.

Past Budget Engagement Opportunities:

As part of the budget preparation process, the City shared detailed information in September and October about its municipal services and provided an opportunity for residents to give feedback. All the responses were compiled and provided to Administration for their consideration and incorporation into the budget process.

Budget Meetings 

Residents were invited to attend budget meetings at City Hall on
  • November 8 (8am-3pm) (Administration presents proposal to Council)
  • November 9 (12pm-3pm, 5pm-8pm) (Council deliberations) Extended to 9pm
