Twenty candidates are seeking to become Chestermere’s next Council and the first opportunities to cast your vote are right around the corner.
Voters may cast their ballot at the advance voting dates of Saturday October 7 or Saturday October 14. Polls will be at the Main Hall in the Chestermere Recreation Centre (201 West Chestermere Drive) and are open each day from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Advance voting days are typically not as busy as the official Election Day (October 16) and those wanting to avoid long wait times are encouraged to take advantage of the early voting opportunities.
To be eligible to vote, you must be over 18 years old, be a Canadian citizen, have lived in Alberta for 6 months prior to Election Day, and live in Chestermere on Election Day. All voters will be required to show identification and sign a declaration that they are eligible to vote. Voters may choose one candidate for Mayor and up to six candidates for Council.
If you would like to learn more about the candidates, short summaries of each candidate’s platform and contact information can be found on the City’s election website.
