At the Regular Meeting of Council on May 22, Council...

  • Heard a presentation from two Prairie Waters Elementary School Grade 5 students about their exhibition topic on “Inclusive Community Facilities.”
  • Heard a presentation from the Yell Youth Council regarding their organization.
  • Heard from 1 resident during Question Period.
  • Heard the Interim CAO First Quarter Report which outlined first quarter achievements from the various City departments.  
  • Heard the 2018 Quarter 1 Financial Report which outlined the statement of operations from the various City departments.
  • Heard an update regarding the East Acreages Area Structure Plan.
  • Approved the Resolution of Council to appoint PwC as CUI’s auditor.  
  • Approved Policy 839 - Proclamations and Letters of Support which outlines the criteria for future proclamations and letters of support requested of Council.
  • Approved Policy 836 - Information Technology (IT) End User Policy (as amended) that acknowledges the City’s IT assets as they relate to the end user.
  • Approved Policy 814 - Human Services Advisory Board Terms of Reference as amended.
  • Approved a discretionary major capital grant of $195,000 for upgrades to the Chestermere Regional Community Association (CRCA).
  • Approved amendments to Chestermere’s Strategic Plan 2018-2022.
  • Passed the 2018 Tax Rate Bylaw Amendment #013-18.
  • Passed the Tax Installment Payment Plan Bylaw #012-18, which authorizes the regulation and collection of a monthly tax installment plan.
  • Passed the Tax Penalties and Fees Bylaw #014-18, which encourages compliance with due dates and tax payments as soon as possible.
  • Heard from 0 residents during the second Question Period.
  • Passed Bylaw #009-18 to redesignate Environmental Reserve Lands to Public Utility Lots. 
  • Went in camera for a personnel matter.
  • Made a motion to censure (officially rebuke) Councillor Bold due to a failure to comply with a request of Council.
