Building Permit Processing
IMPORTANT NOTICE
In accordance with Policy #143 (Fee Schedule), which was approved by Town Council on December 7, 2009, the Town is now authorized to collect from the applicant, prior to issuance of a Development Permit for new home construction, a Performance Deposit of $5,000.00. If the application is for a Permitted Use, and the proposal complies with all the requirements of the Land Use Bylaw, a Foundation Permit will be issued. The Permit allows the Applicant to excavate, construct the foundation, and install the main floor joist work prior to issuance of the Building Permit. The Building Permit may be issued within 10 working days.
PLEASE NOTE: Bylaw 93-611/1 Section 14 (4) of the Town of Chestermere states: If any unauthorized work, including excavation, has been started before the issuance of a permit, the permit fee shall be triple the fee required in Schedule A. Schedule A refers to the Town.
PLEASE NOTE: THE FOUNDATION PERMIT IS NOT A BUILDING PERMIT AND A PLAN EXAMINATION WILL BE DONE. IT IS ENTIRELY THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE APPLICANT TO ENSURE THAT THE FOUNDATION AND MAIN FLOOR FRAMING MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE BUILDING CODE.
If the application is for a Discretionary Use, or if the proposed development does not comply with Land Use Bylaw 99-600, in every way, and/or a relaxation is requested for the Development Officer, the application will have to be circulated to adjacent property owners for their consideration and advertised in The Chestermere Anchor. A 14-day appeal period will be in effect and no permit will be granted until this period had expired.
