The Municipal Enforcement Office is a key component of the Town of Chestermere’s Protective Services. The Peace Officer’s help educate the general public on town bylaws and make suggestions for amendments to the current bylaws.
The Town of Chestermere employs Peace Officer’s appointed pursuant to the Peace Officer Act of Alberta. Our Peace Officers may investigate/enforce all of the Town’s municipal bylaws, as well as various provincial statues.

If you have a concern or complaint in your community, you have a few options on how to contact the Municipal Enforcement Office:
1) You may fill out the general complaint form (Municipal Enforcement Online Complaint Form) or the unsightly property worksheet and forward it via email to: .
2) You can make your complaint in person at the Chestermere Town office at 105 Marina Road between the hours of 9am-4pm, Monday through Friday.

When you file your complaint be prepared to provide your full name, address and phone number(s). Please be advised that the Municipal Enforcement Office does not accept anonymous complaints.
The information provided should be as concise as possible. Please include the following in your description: The nature of the complaint, the names (if known) and address of those involved and the date(s), time(s), day(s) of the week and year the event or activity occurred.
- Complaints are responded to on a priority basis.
- A Peace Officer is assigned to your complaint, and will take action accordingly. Insufficient evidence will result in no prosecution.
- The Officer may exercise discretion in matters and may decide to issue warnings or educate offenders in place of prosecution.
- During the course of an investigation, you may be asked to provide a written statement indicating what you have observed. You may also be asked if you would be willing to testify in court. In many cases, the Peace Officers DO NOT witness the infraction and in order to proceed with fines, YOU must be willing to act as that witness. If you are not willing to testify in court, a charge will not be laid and a warning may be issued.
- If you have located a lost pet, we may, on occasion, ask for your assistance. If a Peace Officer is not available, or space is not available at the Calgary SPCA we may ask you to keep the animal until an Officer is available or space at the facility is available.
