In the fall of each year, Town Council holds an Organizational meeting in which members of the Council are appointed to various Boards and Committees.

Activity/Aquatic Facility

• This committee has been formed to investigate other community Aquatic facilities, to determine operating & capital budgets for existing facilities that could be used for Chestermere, to explore alternate methods of construction that would employ environmentally friendly options and research the needs of the community and the financial viability of this project and advise Council accordingly.

Assessment Review Board

• This Board is made up of residents and council members and is established to hear appeals on assessments. The Board generally meets once per year to hear any appeals that come forward.

Chestermere-Conrich Regional Recreation Board

• The purpose of this board is to foster, create, develop, maintain and operate parks, recreation program facilities and services and other recreational facilities in the cooperating town and regional area under their joint control and management.

Chestermere Planning Commission

• The Municipal Government Act, 2000, Chapter M-26, as amended, provides that a municipal council may establish a Municipal Planning Commission and may delegate to it the power to make decisions with respect to applications for development permits.

Library Board

Parks Committee

• This committee is appointed by council to review and develop a program for upgrading town parks and set criteria for new parks.

Policing Committee

South East Rocky View Family & Community Support Services

• This service provides human and social service information, a resource library, programs for all ages as well as links and referrals to other service providers.

Streetscape Committee

• This committee is appointed by council to develop a program for upgrading the streetscape of East and West Chestermere Drive as well as reviewing all other streets in the community. Streetscapes Website

Subdivision Approving Authority

• This Authority meets at the request of administration to decide on subdivision applications.

Subdivision/Development Appeal Board

• This board hears appeals with respect to decisions of the town’s development officer/Subdivision Approving Authority and renders a final decision based on appealed planning matters.

Town Visioning Committee

• This committee is appointed by Council to be proactive and intentional in ensuring unique public space is created in the recently annexed lands.

Water Festival Committee

• This committee provides Council with planning and implementation recommendations regarding the annual Water Festival held every summer.

Winter Festival Committee

• This committee provides Council with planning and implementation recommendations regarding the annual Winter Festival.

Please take the time to submit your letter of interest to serve a term on one or more of the above-mentioned Committees/Boards. All current Committee/Board members are asked to resubmit a letter of interest.

Selecting our Town Committee members requires everyone who is applying for a vacancy to provide the Town with a short letter of interest form listing contact information and any relevant experience to that Committee (please feel free to list past or current experience with other Town Committees or Boards). We ask that all those interested submit this form whether you are a current, new or applying member.
