Dave Mikkelsen Award
In 2010, Chestermere Town Council established a 12 year Annual Cash Award in the amount of $1000 per year in recognition of former Mayor Dave Mikkelsens years of service to the community and in support of his commitment to giving the Youth of Chestermere a voice in Council and community endeavours. The objective of the Award is to support and perpetuate the ongoing development of individual youth aged 12-17 years of age in the community, or youth serving agencies whose services contribute to building the capacity of local youth as leaders and/or community contributors for their population in the community.
Eligible individuals or organizations are:
- Individual youth aged 12-17 residing in Chestermere, or
- Organizations that serve Chestermere youth aged 12-17, whose endeavours serve to support or enhance the Social, Educational, Spiritual, or Recreational development of Youth and/or the community in Chestermere. Successful endeavours eligible for this Award will contribute to the enhancement of the community, support personal growth and impact the future of Chestermere in a positive and meaningful way.
This Award has been designed to recognize a variety of endeavours that serve to support the sustainable development of Chestermere youth including workshops, courses, post secondary education, physical education, capital projects, conferences, etc.
