Where is the Public Works Yard?

The hours of operation:

  • Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sunday and Statutory Holidays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

  • The yard is not open Christmas Day or New Years Day.
  • The yard is located on the south side of Highway 1A, approximately one kilometre east of the Highway 1 overpass, right next to the old waterslide site.

As of September 1, the Recycling Sites in the parking lots of the Chestermere Bottle Depot as well as Gas Plus were closed. The new and improved Recycling Site is located in the Public Works Yard. The hours of operation are Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sunday and Statutory Holidays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The site will not be open on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.

Items that can be recycled at the Public Works Yard are:

Cardboard
Mixed paper
Newspaper
Plastics with the Recycling Triangle numbered 1-7
Tin
Organic Yard Waste such as grass clippings, leaves, flowers and branches.
Electronics: this includes computer equipment and televisions only.
Eligible Paints: 100ml to 24 litres Interior & exterior latex and alkyd (oil based) paints Porch, floor and deck paints Interior and exterior varnishes and urethanes Primers, undercoats and water repellent sealers Enamels Wood finishing oils and stains Non catalyzed and non nitrocellulose lacquers Shellac Rust and decorative metal paints Concrete and driveway (non tar based) paints Tree marking paint Fence and barn paint Empty paint cans and pails Paint aerosols Marine paint (must not contain pesticides)

We do not accept dirt or sod, glass or polystyrene (Styrofoam)
