Lake Weed Collection
The town would like to thank the lakefront owners who take the time and immense effort to collect weeds along their lakeshore frontage. Weeds are being collected daily from road curbside locations by the department.
If you have questions about weed-harvesting and collection, you can call our Public Works department at 403-207-2807.
Water Levels
The Western Irrigation District controls the level of the water in Chestermere Lake. They try to start increasing the water level near the end of April, beginning of May. The fill is usually completed by mid-May. This all greatly depends on the weather and presence of ice on the lake. WID maintains the operating level at 1025.50 metres to 1025.60 metres until after the Thanksgiving long weekend at which time it is dropped to the winter level. For more information please see the WID website at http://www.wid.net.

Frequently Asked Questions
“Will the land purchase affect my taxes?” Comments from the Town’s Assessor
- Purchasing the lake front lands and dock area should not affect assessment values for 2009. Assessment is based on land sale prices and if properties sell in the future at a higher value due to the increased amount of land on title then the owners could see an increase. Improvements done on the land (i.e. new docks or boat houses) will be reflected when another general area reassessment is done in 3 to 4 years.
