Proposed Municipal Development Plan Amendment
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 692 of the Municipal Government Act, Chapter M-26 of the Revised Statutes of Alberta, 2000, and amendments thereto, the Council of the City of Chestermere is considering Bylaw 007-21. A public hearing will be held on TUESDAY, February 8, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. during a Special Meeting of Council for the below-proposed bylaw.
The Public Hearings is scheduled during a special meeting of Council, visit chestermere.ca/agendas where links to watch the live stream will be posted on the day of the meeting.
Members of the public who wish to provide verbal representation through live teleconferencing during the Public Hearing or written feedback must fill out the form at chestermere.ca/feedback. Written submissions may also be submitted by emailing email@example.com with your name, address, phone number, which bylaw you are speaking to and whether you are in favour or opposed. Requests for verbal representation must be made by Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. The City will accept written submissions until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022.
This bylaw proposes changes to update the Municipal Development Plan with the purpose of accommodating the proposed Clearwater Park Area Structure Plan (ASP), outlined in yellow on the map above. The proposed amendments include:
- Updating the maps
- Figure 4 Chestermere Planning Areas
- Figure 8 Land Use Concept
- Figure 12 Street Network Concept
- Amendments to text regarding:
- Section 3.4 Planning new Communities
- Section 3.5 Mixed Use Commercial Centre
- Section 3.6 Employment Lands
- Section 4.3 Transportation
- Section 4.4 Water Supply + Sanitary Sewer
- Section 4.5 Stormwater management
- New Section (section 184.108.40.206 and Section 220.127.116.11 and a definition) to add regulations regarding future Private Recreation Facilities (Home Owners Associations)

At the February 8, 2022, Special Meeting of Council, Administration will provide an introductory presentation and answer any clarification questions from Council, including discussions around the additional proposed changes noted above. Following that discussion, Council will convene the Public Hearing. Following the Public Hearing, Council may decide on the proposed bylaw or defer their decision to a subsequent Council meeting.
