Safety Key Priority for Congested Residential Road
The City of Chestermere has made permanent parking adjustments to a short stretch of Marina Drive, addressing road safety concerns. The span of roadway affected is the South side between the intersection of Windermere Drive and the entrance to existing businesses (Lifepath Wellness and Chestermere Bottle Depot).
“Parked cars on both sides of the road along this section of Marina Drive cause visibility concerns for drivers while navigating the bend in the roadway,” says Cameron Wong, Interim City Director. “Additionally, parking congestion makes clearing this roadway in the winter months hazardous for drivers and City staff.”
The City of Chestermere realizes this may cause an inconvenience for residents who currently park along this roadway. “We’re encouraging residents who use street side parking to find alternative arrangements further down Marina Drive or along Windermere Drive,” adds Wong.
Per the City of Chestermere’s Traffic Control Bylaw, parking in a no-parking zone may result in a ticket or, if necessary, the vehicle may be towed.
