On Sunday, September 25, Canada will mark National Police and Peace Officer Memorial Day. This day celebrates the dedication of Police and Peace officers throughout our country. It reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice that some have made to protect our way of life as Canadians.
The Province of Alberta has approximately 7000 sworn Police and Peace Officers. While many serve in very diverse roles, all have one common goal: the unwavering commitment to serving their communities, Provinces and Country.
The City of Chestermere recognizes those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and celebrate the hard work, dedication and the difference our Police and Peace Officers make in our City daily. Because of these efforts, Chestermere continues to be one of Alberta's most desirable places to live and work.
Flags at all City of Chestermere buildings will fly at half-mast until sunset to recognize National Police and Peace Officer Memorial Day.
