After what seems like an endless winter, signs of spring are finally showing up around our community.

In our world, one seasonal indicator is the budget review - which is happening in early April. You are welcome to come and observe the next discussion as they are open to all members of the public. If you are not able to make it, rest assured that we understand that residents are feeling the strain of local taxes and your Council will be taking a close look at our spending.

As we look into the City's finances, it is important to note that we are looking at the budget in the broader context of what we would like to achieve over the next year as set out in the Strategic Plan. We adopted this guiding plan in February and I invite you to take time to read the plan on our website and learn about where we are going as a community.

The Strategic Plan was created directly from the conversations we had with you last fall during the election and future adjustments will be informed by the conversations we continue to have with you.

Opportunities to connect are really important to us and we are eager to participate in community events and create opportunities to meet with you often.

Over the past few months that has included presentations to the Rotary Club, the creation of a 'Dirt to Door' Development Industry Breakfast, speaking at local sporting events, and offering more Coffee with Council opportunities, just to name a few.

Throughout the spring, we are going to be out and about at events like the Rec Centre fundraiser, the Emergency Preparedness Open House, Seniors' Week Celebrations, neighbourhood block parties and more.
