2019 Budgeted Projects

Sept 2017 UPdate

Council passed the 2019 Budget on December 4, 2018. Here are some of the projects on the books for this year:

2019 portion of Township Road 240: Reconstruction of the roadway and paving from Range Road 282 to Rainbow Road.

Digital signs to assist with speed reduction: Digital signs help reduce speeding in high traffic areas, so more will be added in 2019.

Improvement of the City’s asset management system: Asset management software will enable the City to better track and accurately predict maintenance schedules for assets.

Lakefront parks project extension: This project includes the installation of a new electronic Boat Launch entry monitoring system as well as new seasonal docks to enhance public accessibility to Chestermere Lake.

Pavement rehabilitation of West Chester Boulevard: Construction on the road between West Chester Way and Rainbow Falls Way will repair settlement issues and restore proper surface drainage.

Protective Services equipment upgrade: Improved personal protective equipment, decontamination equipment, fitness equipment, measurement/ monitoring and apparatus modifications to help reduce the risk of cancer, illness and injuries related to firefighting.

Records management improvements: Implementation of a records/document management software to manage all organizational records consistently.

Replacement of Fire Engine 116: Lifecycle replacement (100% grant funded).

Security upgrade at Public Works: Adding security measures to ensure that only authorized staff or escorted visitors can access certain areas of the building.

Storage facility improvements: Replacing the current structure which shelters large equipment to help reduce maintenance.

Trails / Active Transportation Plan: Creating a Master Trails Plan to improve connectivity through trails, parks and green spaces.

Upgrade of Chestermere Boulevard to an urban 2-lane standard: This project will look at improving Chestermere Boulevard as new development comes on stream. Considerations will include upgrades to the road itself, pedestrian improvements and transit integration.

Upgrades to the Off-Leash Park: Following public engagement, a draft plan was created in 2018. Finalizing the plan and construction is set to begin in 2019.
