Water Festival. It has been a staple of Chestermere’s summers since 2001. As Chestermere began to grow and evolve, so did Water Festival. Taking place only 20 minutes from downtown Calgary, Chestermere’s Water Festival is a fabulous way to spend your Saturday!
“The festival now attracts 5,000 people a year to Chestermere Lake while still maintaining a close-knit community vibe,” says Nancie Huneault, the City of Chestermere Events Coordinator. “It’s a great family fun event for all ages so we invite you to come down and spend a day at the lake!”
John Peake Park has everything you need for an awesome Saturday. Bike, walk or skate your way down to the park for quick access!
If you are a thrill seeker, our wakeboard competition is for you. The event will take place on the northside of the lake, in front of thousands of spectators. If you prefer to stay dry, there are a variety of shops at the artisan market and food trucks to satisfy your curiosity.
For those who wish to explore our beautiful lake city on the water, Chestermere Landing will also be hosting interactive boat tours from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
If you are bringing little ones, you will want to check out the EPCOR Kids Zone, a pirate themed extravaganza packed with a giant foam pit, mini golf, an obstacle course, a bouncy castle and face painting. The fun begins at 11 a.m.
For the older ones, there is an option for you as well. Our beer garden is open from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. with a variety of craft beer and wine from our local breweries.
For everyone attending, there will be live music throughout the festivities. The Summer Showcase features bands from across Canada playing rock and roll, folk, country and hits from the decades. Our headliner this year is the Dirt Road Angels, an Edmonton-based group with country hits throughout Canada and Europe. These soul sisters will debut at 9 p.m. and the day will finish with a spectacular show of fireworks on the lake.
Water Festival takes place at John Peake Park from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. A full schedule of events is available at chestermere.ca/waterfestival.
Come spend your day at the lake - It’s going to be amazing!
