Chestermere Peace Officers were conducting traffic patrols near East Chestermere Drive just before noon on Thursday, July 25 when they spotted a motorcycle travelling at 104 km/h in a 40 km/h zone.
A traffic stop was initiated and the driver, who was from the Calgary area, was later released on a summons to appear for court later this year.
“Our officers are heavily engaged in the City’s Safer Roads program, and take these types of offences very seriously,” says Community Peace Officer Shawn Press. “With the nice weather, the city’s parks and playgrounds are very busy with families and children and the last thing we want is someone to get hurt.”
Chestermere's Peace Officers have an important role in preventing collision-related injuries and promoting traffic safety within the City.
“As we move through the busy summer season, we are reminding drivers to slow down and obey the posted speed limits,” added Press.
