2021 Municipal Election Results

October 22, 2021: The official municipal results have been confirmed by Chestermere's Returning Officer and published on the Elections Data Base. A copy can be found here

October 18, 2021: The initial unofficial results for the 2021 Election for the City of Chestermere’s new Mayor and Council have been compiled. 

The unofficial results for the City of Chestermere for the 2021-2025 term of office are: 

2021 Municipal Election Results

Pursuant to Section 98 of the Local Authorities Election Act, and under certain circumstances, the Returning Officer may conduct a recount in the 44 hours immediately following the closing of voting stations. If a recount is conducted, the Returning Officer will notify any candidates who may be affected. 

At 12 noon on October 22, the Returning Officer shall post the official results at City Hall and announce the final, official results of the election. 

After the election, all candidates must remove all election signage within 7 days. Those candidates who were accepting campaign contributions must file a campaign disclosure statement on or before March 1, 2022. 

Those candidates who have been elected will take their Oath of Office on Friday, October 22. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, the event will be by invitation only, though the public is welcome to watch the live stream at www.facebook.com/cityofchestermere.

The 2021 Municipal Election will take place in October 2021.

Voting Days are

Sunday, Oct 3, 2021

Monday, Oct 4, 2021

Wednesday, Oct 13, 2021

Saturday, Oct 16, 2021

Monday, October 18, 2021

All voting will take place from 8am to 8pm at the Chestermere Recreation Centre. 

Voters will be asked to vote for one mayoral candidate and up to six councillor candidates.


More information and details will be provided throughout 2021 and resources can be found using the links below. Please note that elections for school board trustees and a Provincial referendum and Senate election will be happening at the same time. The Rockyview School Division will not have any candidates on the Chestermere Municipal ballot due to the fact that the incumbent was acclaimed in. If you support the Calgary Catholic School Board, there will be an additional voting station hosted by Elections Calgary for the Calgary Catholic School Board Trustees. The election office (located at City Hall) will be open from 8:30am - 12 noon daily in July and open from 8:30-4:00 p.m. for August - October.
